New York City native audioglyph (aka Lionel Sanchez Jr.) has been producing and writing music with independent artists for the past fifteen years, but his passion for music started early. Being the son of a trumpet player, a veteran of the Latin music scene for over 40 years, he listened to his father practice since he was in his mother’s womb. I guess it was inevitable that a musician would emerge.
The journey began with making hip hop beats with his Casio sampler and drum machine. As he dug for samples through his father’s collection of old Cuban and jazz albums and his brother’s soul 45’s, he came across all the music that would feed his inspiration in the years to come. His musical path continued with songwriting collaborations with fellow classmates in high school. Those same classmates formed the core of a band named everyANYTHING. Lionel is a mostly self-taught musician, teaching himself piano, drums and percussion. Also he is constantly learning all he can about the production, recording and mixing process.
audioglyph brings to his compositions and remixes a diverse palette of influences including Stevie Wonder, Radiohead, Bill Evans, Bjork, and all the rhythms from his Cuban/Puerto Rican ancestry. He loves harmony and rhythm and all the possibilities they present. According to Lionel, music represents a way into the soul, a way to influence a person’s view of the world.
